The Pyrenees and the Aran Valley offer fantastic variety in terms of landscape, scenery and climate. There are idyllic places to enjoy them. Some of the areas in mountainous zones are not still explored, they attract trekking lovers and professional trekkers from all the world.
If you want to take it with tranquility, you can walk around the small villages of the zone, and enjoying the traditional culture and the good cuisine.
The Pyrenees have something for everyone. There is a great variety of activities to choose from: swimming, cycling, trekking etc. Many people come to enjoy activities, and it is common for people to go swimming in the lakes after a long day trekking.
With regards monuments, the Pyrenees are full of Roman churchs. Some of them are astonishing and well worth visiting and relaxing in during a break in the middle of the route.
Several zones of the mountain area are virgin. This is one of the great attractions for the trekkers and cyclists.
Natural Wonders:
July and August are good months for visiting the area. There are festivities and continual holidays during these two months, on both the Spanish and French sides. The mayority are of a religious or folklorique nature, and there are others which are at tourism.
The Aran Valley is a wonder of nature with more than 100 km. of paths to cover, and where you can enjoy the wonderful views and landscapes.
Going up and going down, we can find very wide drops that go from approximately 3000 metres at the highest, to 1000 at the lowest ones. We can distinguish between two differentiated paths:
Reiau route which joins several villages in Aran Valley, near Baqueira Beret ; Trashumancia route, round Rius Port and Tort zone; The marvellous walk through the history of the Valley with the Vielha Port route. |
