Vall Nuria is a great place to go trekking in the Pyrenees near Baqueira Beret ; the views are stunning and the routes are all well marked.

The area is suitable for both experienced trekkers and first time walkers. Many people come here just to relax and enjoy the scenery.

There is an old train that travels up to Vall de Nuria. You can take the train from either of the two tiny villages Ribes de Fresser or Queralt. Alternatively, you can walk up. It takes about 3 or 4 hours, and the ascent is quite steep. At the top, there is a ski station. You will also find a man-made lake, with beautiful surrounding mountain views. From here, you can take a chairlift higher up, for an even more panoramic view – and it’s worth it. You can also just chill out by the lake, and enjoy the scenery, or eat in one of the restaurants.

Trekking maps are available at the station. Routes can be challenging, but most people find them enjoyable.
