It is important to know the official rules and regulations of the International Ski Federation, to avoid accidents on the slopes of the Pyrenees in Baqueira Beret.

REGULATIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SKI-FEDERATION

1.- Respect the others
The snowboarder or skier has to behave on the slope in order not to endanger anyone or reduce the value of using the facilities of the resort to anyone.

2.- Speed control and knowledge
The snowboarder or skiier has to be under control of his movements. He has to be aware of his mastering of the sports and the general condition of the slope, snow and the number of fellow skiers.
(The skier must be able at any time to either stop, turn or divert without endangering any other person.)

3.- To choose a route
The snowboarder or skier coming up behind others, must choose a route which does not endanger any of the fellow skiiers in front.
(Keep your distance and respect the movments of the person in front of you).

4.- How to overtake
It is possible to overtake from the right or the left, however always keeping enough distance to the person who is being overtaken.

5.- Entering the slope, integrating oneself and transportation up the mountain
All skiers and snowboarders entering the slopes, and preparing to drive downhill, have to ensure themselves, that no-one is being put in danger by doing so.

6.- Stopping on the slope
All skiers and snowbaorders must avoid to stop on narrow areas of the slope or if there is poor visibility, unless it is absolutely necessary. In case of falling accidentially, try to get up as quickly as possible to continue your down-run or try to leave the slope quickly.

7.- Walking up and down
The skier or snowboarder who walks up and down the slopes, has to do so on the sides of the slopes (the footprints on the slope leave holes which may be the cause of accidents).

8.- Respect the signals
All skiers and snowboarders must respect the signals of the slopes and surroundings.

9.- First aid
It is obligatory for all fellow skiers or snowboarders to help in case of an accident. (The FIS is awaiting a law, to punish a hit-and-run delict the same way as in a traffic situation).

10.- To identify oneself
All skiers and snowboarders witnessing an accident, whether or not responsible for it, have to identify themselves and exchange names and directions.
