Silvester pines, beaches, beautiful landscapes, incredible fauna, snow - summarizes the Arán Valley, an ideal place where you can enjoy a few days in contact with a breathtaking nature. Pinewoods, Black Pine, Fir and spruce are just some of the varied flora found in the Arán Valley. Of all the animals that live here, the brown bear is without doubt the most prominent one, however in danger of extinction. Also found here are the white partridge, the vulture and the lizard. Some of these animales are regressing because of the urbanisation of the area and hence, the loss of their natural habitat.
The ecological system of the valley is unique, but during some time now, the intrusions of people, new urbanizations and roads, have caused and stil are causing serious damage to the valley´s environment.
Protection
The natural habitat of the Arán Valley can now count on protection as the Arán Valley has specific plans to conserve the species of flora and fauna.
The biodiversity of this valley is nourished by the Garona river, which flows into the Atlantic, giving the place a kind of special freshness and generating abundancy and bio-diversity. Amongst the protected flora are the alpine and moist meadows. Some of the animals in dire need of protection are> a reptile called Coleóptero, various species of birds, and most of all, the brown bear. |
